PRACTICE EXPERIENCE

Since joining the firm in 1985, Ms. Ford has practiced primarily in the area of workers' compensation insurance/employer defense where she litigates before the Alaska Workers' Compensation Board. She has also been actively involved in preparing briefing and arguments for presentation on appeal before the superior and supreme courts in Alaska, primarily in the area of workers' compensation claims. She has also participated in preparation of briefs and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Her reported cases include:

Safeway, Inc. v. Mackey, 965 P.2d 22 (Alaska 1998); Rydwell v. Anchorage School District, 864 P.2d 526 (Alaska 1993); Houston Contracting, Inc. v Phillips, 812 P.2d 598 (Alaska 1991); LeSuer-Johnson v. Rollins-Burdick Hunter, 808 P.2d 266 (Alaska 1991); Baker v. Reed-Dowd, 836 P.2d 916 (Alaska 1992) and Huston v Coho Electric, 923 P.2d 818 (Alaska 1996).

Prior to law school, Ms. Ford was an academic librarian in Illinois and California for 12 years. From 1966 to 1972, she was Interlibrary Loan Librarian/Assistant Reference Librarian at the University of Illinois Chicago. In California, Ms. Ford was Director of Libraries at Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles, from 1973 to 1978, when she moved to Alaska. She has also taught in the Paralegal Studies program at the University of Alaska Anchorage as an adjunct professor.
